Understanding the user

User Research: Summary

The research aimed to understand the behaviors, preferences, and pain points of our target audience—moviegoers—related to the current snack ordering experience at movie theatres.

User Research: Pain Points

Long Waiting Times

Frustration with long lines which results in overall dissatisfaction with the moviegoing experience and sometimes in missed parts of movies.

No Scheduling

The lack of scheduling options means that users must rely on arriving at the theater without knowing if their snacks will be ready or if there will be a long wait upon arrival.

Rushed Experience

Users often feel rushed during the snack ordering process, specially when trying to quickly place an order before the movie starts or when the movie is already playing.

Persona

Alex, a movie enthusiast, constantly faces the challenge of feeling rushed when confronted with long concession stand lines during movie outings. Despite his desire to enjoy his favorite snacks, he often finds himself torn between waiting in line and missing significant parts of the movie.

User Journey Map

I conducted user research to understand their frustrations, focusing on simplicity and convenience in our app design to improve the user’s moviegoing experience.

Starting the design

Digital Wireframes

These wireframes served as a starting point to explore various design concepts and iterate rapidly before transitioning to creating low-fidelity prototypes.

Mockups

These mockups provided a clearer vision of the final product, facilitating constructive feedback and informed decision-making.

Accessibility Considerations

1

Followed accessibility guidelines standards for color contrast ratios to ensure that text and elements are easily distinguishable against background colors.

2

I prioritized legibility and readability by using clear and easily readable fonts throughout the app.
